The German chemist Michael Braungart is known throughout the world as the co-author of Cradle to Cradle together with the American architect William McDonough. He will present this concept, which stems from production techniques where no waste needs to be dumped or burned. Waste from one product can be the raw material for another product.
Cradle to Cradle distinguishes two never-ending cycles in which raw materials can be reused over and over again: the biosphere and the technosphere. Designing for the biosphere means: not contaminating raw materials during the production process with harmful chemicals. Only totally organic substances can be safely composted. Designing for the technosphere implies: ensuring that parts are produced from different materials, are easy to separate. Only they can be reused at high level.
Seminar will be held on May 6th 2009 at 18h30 (seminar room), Tour & Taxis, Havenlaan 86C, Brussels. For more information, please visit: http://www.demoburo.be/cradle/mailing/cradletocradle_EN.html
