DESSO HMA designs unique carpet for Lloyd Hotel

DESSO Hospitality Marine & Aviation division has translated the house style of the Lloyd Hotel into a carpet. This eye catcher, replete with leaves and flowers, has been revealed at Elle Wonen – Inside Design 2009 on 19 & 20 September in the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam.
Carpet design is giving designers more and more freedom. It is now possible to give each hotel room or hall its own character using a unique carpet design. The DESSO Axminster carpet specially woven for Lloyd Hotel shows architects and designers the creative possibilities DESSO offers.
Elle Wonen, organizer of Inside Design 2009, invited designers and creatively inclined consumers to discover new trends in design. To this end, Lloyd Hotel was transformed into the Elle Wonen design hotel for two days. The rooms were designed by various well-known designers and up-and-coming talent. DESSO was given the unique assignment of producing this unusual carpet specially for this Elle exhibition.
The Lloyd Hotel was built in 1921 on the Oostelijke Handelskade in Amsterdam and has filled various roles as an emigrant hotel, a prison and a workshop. In 2000 it was converted into a hotel by architects, designers and artists, with rooms ranging from one-star to five-star. All 116 rooms have been given a unique and inspiring design.
