DESSO signals ambition with Van Trimpont appointment
15 april 2007
European carpet manufacturing giant, DESSO, announces the appointment of high-profile textiles boss, Pierre van Trimpont, as director and its chief operations officer in an ambitious move which is certain to make rival businesses take notice.
Mr van Trimpont will join DESSO on August 16, 2007, having previously worked as general manager of Centexbel, the scientific and technological research centre of the Belgian textile industry. He also holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering.
His arrival marks a significant coup for DESSO, which has three manufacturing plants in Belgium and the Netherlands. The business resumed trading independently in April 2007 when a majority shareholding in the company was bought by investment firm NPM Capital.
Stef Kranendijk, DESSO chief executive, said: "DESSO has been at the forefront of quality carpet manufacture in Europe for more than 70 years, and Pierre's appointment confirms not only that we intend to stay there, but that we aim to expand our business still further. Executives of Pierre's calibre are not lured away to new positions easily but happily we have been able to persuade him that our ambitions match his own."
Dr. van Trimpont will be responsible for DESSO's three manufacturing plants at Dendermonde and Waasmunster, Belgium, and at Waalwijk, Netherlands.
