Desso is launching its latest ecologically-intelligent carpet, Reclaim, designed for a range of environments that demand durability, economic sustainability and tasteful desert tones.
Reclaim was officially unveiled by Desso on November 12-14 at NUTEC ( http://www.nutec.de ), the first seminar and trade show from the Environmental Protection and Encouragement Agency (EPEA) showcasing the new approach to eco-sound production methods that support high product quality and almost 100% re-use of all materials. This is known as the 'Cradle to Cradle' philosophy, of which Desso is a strong advocate, as well as being certified by EPEA for its commitment to this methodology. Desso applies Cradle to Cradle throughout all its production processes to ensure that valuable materials do not end up in landfill. Desso's 'Take- Back' Programme gives customer assurance that carpet will be collected at the end of its useful life to be reprocessed into the raw material for new carpets.
Reclaim is launched with Desso's Cradle to Cradle philosophy in mind. Reclaim is made from 100% Econyl Aquafil solution dyed nylon: with a pile fibre consisting of 70% recycled content and 100% post-consumer recycled polyester primary backing. It is one of the first carpet tile to receive a stamp from independent German test institute, GUI, which specialises in assessing air quality, dampness and dust particle count. The GUI certificate shows that Reclaim guarantees improved indoor air quality.
With a calming and uplifting indoor environment in mind, Reclaim is available in five colours with natural grey, beige and sand tones, and in two variants - Reclaim and Reclaim Ribs.
Alexander Collot d'Escury, Desso Chief Commercial Officer, says: "Reclaim is a new and exciting product from a Cradle to Cradle company and it is based around ecologically-intelligent materials. The production qualities of the carpet have resulted in Reclaim drawing great attention at NUTEC, as well as being certified by GUI ahead of any competitors' products. It is the perfect choice for applications where ecological awareness is a high qualifier, natural shades desired, and improvement of indoor air quality sought."
