Russian youth now plays football on DESSO artificial grass

01 augustus 2007

DESSO supplies more than 60,000 m2 of artificial grass for a UEFA project

DESSO is currently part of a project to build 65 mini football fields in Russia, many of which are in Siberia. The order is part of the UEFA's Hattrick project which aims to promote youth football. With the profits of Euro 2004, UEFA is financing the building of mini football fields in Europe. Siberian cities such as Samara, as well as Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk now have football fields they can use in both winter and summer.

For this order, DESSO's factory in Dendermonde, developed a type of highly durable artificial grass that requires minimal maintenance and offered good value for money. Since the investment per field is limited, this allowed more fields to be built on the same budget. This project is an example of how artificial grass can help promote football, especially in regions where football facilities are scarce due to the climate or budget.

The building of these football fields is a collaboration between DESSO and its Russian partner, Bamard. DESSO is already a well known player on the Russian market, with clients such as Lokomotiv Moscow, the Russian Football Union and FC Zenith Saint-Petersburg.
