Desso on the runway
14 December 2011Last month, Desso yarns made their début in a completely different environment, when Desso paired with DiGuiseppe Architects to create a high fashion piece of art for NEWH Product Runway. NEWH – Network of Executive Women in Hospitality – is a leading hospitality industry network with 22 chapters and regional areas.
In the summer of 2011, 16 hospitality design firms were paired with 16 product manufacturers, giving them $1000 and three months to create a fashion statement for the Product Runway fashion show on 14 November 2011. Product Runway, organized by the Greater New York chapter of NEWH with the goal of networking and fundraising, shows materials normally used in hospitality design in a completely different setting of a fashion runway.
Desso and DiGuiseppe Architects together created a gown of carpet yarn skeins. Images of the gown on the runway at Marquee Nightclub in New York can be viewed here. An image of the gown on the runway and one of Anthony DiGuiseppe with the model are included below.
